FOSSILS

Graduation Project - The display space contains a collection of dinosaurs - skeletons made out of disposable cutlery (from polystyrene and polypropylene). The skeletons are housed in museum display cases where they feed on tension that is created between high and low and between the temporary and the eternal. The project presents ecological and artistic questions regarding the origin and the cyclical nature of the material: the ancient organism has transformed into oil, which has turned into plastic and now back into dinosaur bones. Is it possible that the ancient skeleton in the Science Museum is no more "real" than its new counterpart? Is human society an integral part of nature, thus making any object it creates a part of nature? Will this society not end up as a recycled object of itself?
